In my opinion the Vforce Grill mask is one of the nicest masks on the market. It feels nice against the face and doesn't weigh too much either. Available in numerous color configurations, including olive drab and tan which works great in the woods for scenario ball. The Vforce Grill sports incredible features that will keep you safe and in the 'cool club'.
The mask is a combination of hard and soft plastics that match the color pattern of the mask as well. The softer plastic is closer to your neck, ears and mouth, making the mask more comfortable and less rigid against your face. The mask comes with a detachable Visor which is nowhere near as large as the old style visors and is made of the same softer plastic that 'gives' when you lean close against a bunker. Keeping this visor in place will increase the masks likelihood to fog up (more on this later).
This mask has some of the nicest features I've seen on a paintball mask. The goggle strap included has sticky lines on the inner side that help to keep it in place against your head. It has an easily removable foam insert and the easiest lens retention system yet. There are three easy steps to remove the lens. First un-clip the goggle strap from the goggle retainer clip. Then push the goggle retainer clip outwards. Then remove the lens, okay its basically two steps, and you could do it with gloves on at a cleaning station on the field with no problem. Now if you want to remove the foam insert simply unlock the insert on both side while the goggle retainer clips are removed. As always make sure you reassemble your mask properly and follow the instruction manual.
Although the mask is very unique in its look and lens retaining system there is always room for improvement. This mask has the same problem I have had with every mask I have every owned. It fogs up. Now it doesn't do it nearly as bad as some, but some fog is still bad. Fortunately with some careful work on the visor, you can fashion it to direct airflow into the mask and hold a small micro fan. Bootman sells these fans at the field, including the 9V battery wiring to ventilate your mask. Now with these modifications, the mask is near fog proof. I have still had condensation during the winter, which froze against the lens while using this setup. This is the one drawback of this mask. Although they offer fog resistant coated optics, they do not offer a thermal lens. A true thermal lens has two lenses sandwiched together and trapping air between them. This offers insulation that can reduce if not eliminate condensation and fogging issues in most situations. The fit on this mask is very close and lacks a little in protection leaving the chin and jaw line slightly exposed. A bigger mask will cover more, but will also bump into your surroundings more often and possibly give your position away.
One of my favorite lenses for the Vforce is the Chromatic Lens. It gets darker when you are in bright areas and lightens when you are in shady areas. You get all the benefits of a shaded lens but none of the drawbacks. No matter what lens you choose its a breeze to install and more importantly to clean. You can get all the paint and shell off of your lens and mask very easily.
Pros:
Compact Design Removable Foam Inserts Easily Removed Lens Multiple Color Combinations
Cons:
No thermal lenses available Fogs up without ventilation
